SAN
Overview
starex SAN, a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile, offers superior mechanical properties, chemical resistance and heat resistance in comparison to general purpose polystyrene resin. SAN resin shows comparable levels of impact, heat and chemical resistance with PMMA. Surface gloss, dimensional stability, mechanical strength and electrical properties of SAN are superior to GPPS, and it can be more easily processed than acrylic resins. In general, due to the nature of the molecular structure(AN group in SAN), SAN resin tends to be yellowish and loses the transparency after injection molding. starex SAN, however, emphasizes its high quality by minimizing such disadvantages while keeping other desirable properties of the SAN resin.
Features
1) Low yellow index
starex SAN may allow the transmission of over 90% of visible rays, which is characterized by low yellow index.
2) Excellent chemical resistance
Since starex SAN has displayed excellent chemical resistance to various chemicals and oils due to the nature of acrylonitrile, it is used to manufacture various kinds of electric parts, food cases and more.
3) Excellent colorability
Generally used colorants can be mixed with starex SAN for any desired color for both transparent and nontransparent products.
4) Antistatic starex
SAN AS-5680 is used for manufacturing products which require both transparency and antistatic properties. Its surface resistivity is about 1013¥Ø.
5) Excellent weather resistance
starex SAN is used for making out-door products since it is seldom discolored even if exposed to sunlight for a long time.
6) Secondary processability
starex SAN is available for secondary processing such as adhesion, coating, hot stamping, and silk printing.
