Overview

Painting is possible on all kinds of ABS, but satisfactory results cannot be expected for painted products due to the decrease in impact and adhesive strength caused by solvents. Plastic painting is divided into thin-layer painting and thick-layer painting by the thickness of coat and by painting area, whole or partial. Thin coat painting is completed by spraying only once for whole painting and pad printing is done for partial painting. Thick-coat painting is usually completed by spraying twice or more. Paint should be applied separately to products that can be painted instantly and to products that should be immersed in solvents for a long time. ABS used for the latter method needs to maintain material properties and good adhesive properties. starex PT-0160 and PT-0170 have been developed to satisfy the above properties.

Features

1) High Impact Strength

The izod impact strength is relatively high,showing a value of over 30kgm/cm (1/4", notched). 2) High Melt Flow

High impact strength and melt flow enable the good injection molding processability of thick or thin walled products and sophisticated products that have many bosses. 3) Paintability and hemical Resistance

Good adhesion between pigment and resin provides excellent paintability, limiting crack occurrence and surface erosion. 4) Impact Strength at low teamperature

This material can maintain an Izod impact strength of over 20 kgcm/cm (1/4 ", notchecd) at a low temperature (-10��). Properties

1) Excellent Adhesion Properties

PT-0160 and PT-0170 have good adhesion properties and maintain adhesion on long-term contact with solvents. Surface deformation and crack may occur due to the breakage of rubber component molecules result from the use of coating solvents. PT-0160 and PT-0170 are developed to strengthen the above weaknesses and maintain orientation. They also show excellent adhesion of pad printing and pre- painting characteristics during thin-layer painting. 2) Excellent Impact Resistance during Thick-Layer Painting

A sudden decline of the resin's impact strength may be caused by solvents during thick-layer painting which results in serious cracking. PT-0170 is developed as a super high impact grade, and PT-0160 is designed to improve instant bonding during thin-layer painting. 3) Excellent Processability

Although PT-0170, a super high impact grade,has a low melt flow, it has excellent surface qualities. PT-0160 is processed at condition a similar to that of ABS, while it can be easily applied to products which emphasize their surface quality. 4) Excellent Expansion and Contraction

PT-0170 has displayed its flexibility by demonstrating shock absorption properties against external impacts or shocks. Type & Applications
