High Gloss ABS
Overview
ABS resin, with its excellent processability, impact strength, rigidity, easy coloration and, in particular, excellent surface gloss, is widely used in various electrical, electronic and commodity parts for which a good appearance is needed. The appearance of products is mainly determined by three factors: resin properties, mold surface smoothness and molding conditions. starex High Gloss ABS provides you with resin that possesses not only super high gloss properties but also antistatic capability and processability as well.
Features
1) Stability in Quality
starex Super Gloss ABS is very stable regarding such qualities as homogeneity in material property and stability in coloration since it is produced throughly automated up-to-date processes under strict quality control supervision.
2) Unique Characteristics of Each Grade
There are four grades of starex High Gloss ABS available. Each grade is distinguished by the level of gloss (regular & super), antistatic capability, and high flexural strength.
3) Excellent Processability
The materials display excellent processability since they fortify productivity in such a way that high-cycle molding can be done.
4) Excellent Jet
starex Super Gloss ABS provides excellent jet with an outstanding gloss which exceeds international standards.
5) Excellent Scratch-proof Characteristics
Since starex High Gloss ABS shows excellent flexural strength and hardness,the material displays excellent scratch-proof characteristics, and the SG-0790 is the best material in this regard.
6) Excellent Secondary Processability
The SG-0780 and SG-0790 starex Super Gloss ABS grades display excellent adhesion characteristics during such activities as thermal ultrasonic welding.
Properties
1) Mechanical
All starex Super Gloss ABS grades are designed with higher tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness and creep resistance than general purpose ABS.
2) Thermal
Compared with general-purpose ABS grades, the level of residual stress is lower and the thermally induced discoloration is minimal. In particular, the thermal properties of the SG-0780 and SG-0790 grades are comparable to those of medium heat-resistance grades.
3) Gloss
The gloss characteristics of ABS is dependent on the surface roughness of the mold cavity, amount of gas generated, melt pressure and homogeneity of pigment distribution. starex High Gloss ABS shows excellent gloss due to its unique compounding process and fortification with special additives. Particularly, the gloss of SG-grades is comparable to that of U.V. coating.
4) Antistatic Characteristics
Products using High Gloss ABS usually also have antistatic properties. We have successfully developed starex HG-0761, which satisfies both high gloss and antistatic requirements.
5) Scratch-Proof Characteristics
Since most parts found in home appliances and commodities are made of high gloss ABS and are prone to scratches. Cheil industries developed the SG-0780 and SG-0790 grades with scratch-proof characteristics that will eliminate the problems stated above.
6) Chemical Resistance under Stress
Since most high gloss ABS resins are used in home appliances and commodities, it should be resistant to oil stuffs such as salad oil and DOP.
